Be heard
If you or someone you love has lived with mental illness inside the Indianapolis justice system, your experience can help the next family.
How it works
- Write to us. A few sentences is enough to start.
- We talk first. Before anything is written, we talk about what you are comfortable sharing.
- We protect identities. We use roles and remove names, dates and details that could identify you or your loved one.
- You approve it. Nothing is published until you have read it and said yes. You can change your mind before it goes live.
If a case is still open
Please talk with the defense attorney before sharing details. What you share publicly could affect the case.
We are especially looking for
- Families who could only see a loved one by video at the Marion County jail.
- Anyone who received a guilty but mentally ill verdict, or was found not responsible by reason of insanity, in Indiana.
- Nominations for people inside the system who got it right.
